Eliquid is sometimes referred to as e-liquid, vape juice or vape liquid. It is a combination of flavourings, nicotine, Vegetable Glycerin and Propylene Glycol. It comes in a variety of combinations, mainly the Vegetable Glycerin and Propylene Glycol will be varied. As well as the strength of nicotine. More about this later.
The liquid is put into the tank of your ecig, and when heated by the coil produces a vapour. It is this vapour that is then inhaled. Due to the basic properties that make up the liquid, it does not contain any of the toxic chemicals that cigarettes contain. Making it up to 95% better for you than smoking.
There are 100s if not 1000s of different flavours of e-liquid. Which means that there is almost definitely a flavour of eliquid for you. You may have to try a few different flavours and brand of vape liquid before you find one that is right for you.
As mentioned above, there are a lot of different flavours of vape juice. Ranging from basic tobacco and menthol flavours. To more intricate dessert flavours.
Vape liquids are also safe to mix together to make up your own flavours to put into your e-cigarette. This means you can purchase several flavours of eliquid and mix them to make something unique that you may like. For example, mixing strawberry and raspberry e-liquids together.
There are several different types of e-liquids. The main types are:
High VG - This means that the eliquid has a higher percentage of Vegetable Glycerin, normally to be considered a high VG vape juice it would contain at least 70% VG.
High PG - This is similar to high VG but where the vape juice contains a higher percentage of Propylene Glycol, normally to be considered a high PG e-liquid it would contain at least 70% PG.
50/50 E-liquids - The clue is in the name for these vape juices. It means that the vape liquid contains equal part VG and PG.
Shortfill - These are normally nicotine free bottles of eliquid, which have a spare capacity in the bottle in order to add a ‘nicotine shot’ which you can add in to combine with the vape juice to add nicotine. The reason for this is due to UK and EU law preventing larger than 10ml of nicotine containing eliquid to be sold. This means you will also need to purchase a 10ml bottle of nicotine to add to your shortfill. Eliquids in the shortfill range normally come in 50ml, but in a 60ml bottle. This gives space for the 10ml nicotine shot to be added.
Nicotine shots / nicotine salts - These are 10ml bottles of eliquid containing usually quite high strength nicotine (18mg+). They are designed to be added to shortfills to add the nicotine content. An 18mg nicotine shot added to a 50ml 0mg shortfill will result is 60ml of 3mg eliquid
