It can seem a bit confusing, however ecigarette coils are probably the most important part of your ecig starter kit. They are the device in the tank that heats up the eliquid and creates the vapour.
Coils come in 2 main formats, pre-built and rebuildable. At Twist of Vape we specialise in pre-built coils. A pre-built ecig coil is a metal surround, containing a piece of thin metal (the actual coil) with cotton material that acts like a wick to soak up the eliquid. As you push the fire button on your mod the electricity passes through the coil, heating the thin metal coil and therefore heating the eliquid. Producing a vapour from the e-liquid.
There are two types of e-cigarette coils, standard core coils, which are a thin wire of metal coiled around with cotton passing through the middle. These come in either dual core (2 coils of metal) up to four core coils. The more coils you have the more vapour that is produce and a more even or intense flavour that you get from your e-liquid.
Then there are mesh coils, these are a thin plate of metal with lots of holes in it, creating a mesh of metal. Cotton the surround the mesh to act as the wick. Some people prefer mesh coils as it is said that they produce a better flavour intensity from the eliquid than standard core coils.
Coils come in varying resistance. The resistance is a measured in ohms and typically you get coils in a range of 0.1ohms - 2.5ohms. Anything below 1ohm is considered sub-ohm.
The higher the resistance of the coil, the less eliquid the coil will use, and the cooler the vape will be. They also typically produce less vapour.
The tank that you purchase will often have a selection of coils that you can put inside it. It used to be that to use a sub-ohm coil you had to purchase a sub-ohm tank. However these day tanks often allow you to use both sub-ohm and higher ohm coils.
E cig coils need to be change based on a variety of different factors. These include the quality of the coil, the rate that you use your vape kit, and the type of coil that you are using. The guidelines for when to change your ecig coil are quite general and can vary quite a lot. Here at Twist of Vape we only sell genuine coils direct from the manufacturer, that way you do not need to be concerned about the quality.
Heavy vapers will need to change their coil ever 5-7 days. Users that vape less often can usually make a coil last 1-2 weeks.
You will know when to change your vape coil by the taste. When a coil is burnt out it will taste burnt, and you make find the vapour get hotter. Once you change your coil we recommend that you wait for 5 minutes after filling your tank with e-liquid. This gives time for the cotton wick to soak up the eliquid and prevents premature burning of the coil.
You need to be careful where you purchase your e-cig coils from, as there are fakes on the market. We advice that you purchase from a reputable store or online retailer. This way you can be sure that you do not receive a fake coil. Fake coils can be dangerous to use, and can wear out far more quickly. Here at Twist of Vape we only stock genuine coils direct from the manufacturer and therefore you can be sure of the quality that you recieve.
Twist of Vape sells genuine coils from manufacturers such as Innokin, Aspire and VOOPOO. We stock a huge range of different types and resistances and so you are sure to find one that fits your tank. We also offer free UK delivery on all orders over £20.
